I bought the classic book on drawing Rendering in Pen and Ink by Arthur L. Guptill some weeks ago. This is one of the exercises. I used one of my nib pens, the Gillott 404. The goal is to learn to control the hand pressure for creating several line widths.

Nicely done!
Thanks!
That looks like a good exercise, Nuno. It turned out pretty too.

I prefer the left side (I started in there). I don’t know if I changed the pressure at the finish or the pen got some dirty but the final lines are wider.
Thank you!
Hello, I have nominated you for The Versatile Blogger Award http://ceramicartdesign.wordpress.com/2012/04/29/the-versatile-blogger-award/
Thank you very much!

Oh, thanks!
Very delicate! I love it!
I’ll work in a new version with watercolors in the next few days. Thank you!
This is incredible! You did this free hand? Very, very nice!

Yes, I did it. It is a kind of exercise
It is really good. I could probably draw something like that, but would have to do it in pencil because I would make a lot of mistakes and need to erase, again and agian and again. Very brave of you to do it in ink, and very well done!

I’m on board with everyone else–it is very nicely-rendered Victorian swag!
Thank you very much, Lance
