The painting course is over and this is the final version of my first oil painting. There are not important differences with the previous day either. I was adding some shadows and lights to the grass area and some leaves to the trees, I had added too much sky color between the trees, while the teacher explained how to perform the reflections. Practically I redid all the water area. First I used browns for the water, I painted from the bottom to the middle of the water, approximately. Then, I added the reflections over the fresh paint and some dark greens in the shoreline. Finally I blurred the reflections and added some shadows.
We asked to the teacher if we could take several classes more. Some of the students were very interested on it. He will answer in the next few days. It seems he has an exhibition and is working on his own paintings. I am not sure if I am interested on these extra classes. I am partially satisfied with the course and I am not sure if I want to start a new painting. I will wait to the teacher’s answer to make a decision. Keep you all informed!

The painting turned out beautiful. All your hard work and patience has paid off. Thank you for sharing your first oil painting experience. It has been a pleasure to watch your progress….Excellent work, Nuno! xo
Thank you, Deb. Your comments and encouragement have been very important to me. I’ll wait for the teacher’s answer but probably I’ll get back to ink and watercolors. Nevertheless the experience has been satisfactory!
Your progress has been dramatic. Beautiful painting.
Thank you very much, Elena. The best was I turned the painting upside down for working on the reflections. It seemed a different painting!
Very nice! I am drawn to your sky above the mountain very dreamy. If I could step into your painting I would feel the need to climb to the top.
Thank you
I had a lot of problems with the sky and the mountain. It was the first area in which I was working and I was not able to get the exact color tones. In fact the sky should tend purple and it is almost blue. Yesterday we were comparing the original painting and my copy and some people preferred my blue sky. I don’t know, I guess it is matter of opinions…
That is fantastic! I’ve enjoyed all of your progress posts with this painting. I am not very good at working on one painting over a long period of time so I admire just how much work you put into this.
Yes, it was a long period. I started the course almost three months ago. I am a long distance runner so I am get used to this kind of extensive experiences…
Thank you very much!
Beautiful painting. Its amazing looking back at how you developed and progressed. Looks fantastic!
I want to do a post or page with a summary and all the photos but I am waiting for the answer on the extra time. I guess it could be interesting to look all the different stages in the same page.
Thank you!
All I can say is that it looks wonderfull. Pretty amazing that this is your first (!) oil painting!
Strictly speaking it should be the second or perhaps the third oil painting, I donpt remember exactly. I’m sure I painted another one in my school days many, many years ago but really I didn’t know what I was doing. Probably I was 12 years old or so.
Thank you very much.
The result is very beautiful Nuno. Thanks so much for sharing this process.
Thank you very much for following the process and commenting every day.
Wowww! I Now you can stop, Nuno!
It looks so real and beautiful!!! To me it’s perfect.
Merci beaucoup
This is much better than my first attempt at an oil painting! Great job!
Thank you very much, Leslie
Beautiful painting.
Thank you. Currently it is drying. I want to apply some varnish.
