Some months ago my girlfriend gave me a small metal box with pencils and crayons. That made me try to learn to draw one more time. The initial drawings were just exercises on tonal values and composition. I also tried to learn to see the light reflected by objects and also the shadows. I also refreshed geometrical concepts on perspective and vanishing points. But above all I practiced, practiced, and practiced.

I posted some of those initial drawings on Flickr. I wanted to share the drawings with her and also to keep track of them. Someone recommended to me to keep recordings of the songs that I was practicing while I was learning to play guitar, so I could realize my progress. I guess the advice can be extrapolated to drawing and painting, too.
This blog keeps the same aim. But a blog also allows a better organization of the contents by means of categories and pages, and new materials such as texts and comments, posts summaries, links to related sites, and so on.
If you enjoyed the blog, please consider leaving a comment or subscribing!
I have never seen a blog like this. It is so beautiful!
Glad you decided to learn to draw! And do keep everything, it is always nice to look back. With all the practice you will be surprised to see how you improve. Keep going, your sketches are good already. Cecily
Thank you very much. Recently I discovered your blog. I love it. It is quite inspiring! In particular I love your Kreativ Blogger page.
Good luck with your new hobby. I like your metal box. Thank you for your drawings.
Thank you for your kind words!
I really like your blog. The colors are really fantastic.
Hello, Nuno
I like what you’re doing with your blog. I like the idea that you’re taking very simple materials and making something pretty with them. My daughter makes beautiful drawings with nothing but a ball point pen and whatever paper she has at hand. Her motto is, “you can almost always make something out of almost anything.” And I agree.
Let me know if you’re ever thinking of adding ‘blog buddies’ to your page. I like to do watercolors, too, but haven’t been at it for a long time. It would be a nice incentive to think of producing a little unassuming something each week, and being part of little group of like-minded people who are doing some artwork just for the fun of it.
Regards, from Wilhelmina
Hello Wilhelmina!
Thank you very much for your comments about the blog. Mainly the idea is to have fun and to learn new things. The blog keeps me motivated and also it is way to share the drawings with my friends.
And the ‘blog buddies’ list is a wonderful idea! I didn’t know the concept but I was reading. I like it! Yes, of course, I will link your blog and I will suscribe and comment on your watercolors. Surely I will learn many things!
Nuno
Nuno, keep up the drawing and posting. Good stuff.
Thank you!
Hi Nuno, thanks for following my blog!
Your artworks are all beautiful, the perspective is just amazing. (that’s my weak point.lol)
And wow, you practice guitar too? I’m trying to learn it as well at the moment.
Good luck with your art. Keep posting. We love it.
Thank you, Melody. Your drawings are very beautiful. They are simple and complex simultaneously. Furthermore you write poems! Amazing! I love them.
And good luck with guitar, too!
Thanks for the “like”. I’ll usually check a few posts from folks who do that, but I couldn’t stop looking at your work. It’s really good! I love to see folks’ sketchbooks and practice drawings/paintings more than finished works, and yours are very detailed and nice to look at. Really impressed. Thanks again for the like, and more than that, for sharing your work!
I appreciate your kind words about my work. They serve as motivation to me. I always try to have fun in all my activities. If somebody finds my sketches interesting, then it is a double reward to me!
Thank you so much!

Hi there Nuno, thanks for liking a recent post of mine! I’ve had a peruse through your blog and just love your drawings..interesting that you are working on trees. I am on vacation in Florida and am working on a few trees of my own. I really love your architectural drawings, they are fabulous and best of luck with guitar, I play fiddle and piano as well as sing! Oh, and I’m going to follow you along from here so I can keep up on those great drawings! All the best, Lorelei aka incidentallearner
Thank you for your kind words. I’ve been visiting your blogs these days. Your works are really nice. I’m also following your blog now, so I will see your trees if you post them.
Fiddle is cool! I’d like to play fiddle. It has a wonderfully sad tone but, suddenly, it becomes the most happy instrument, too!
That is fantastic!! Thank you… I like to play all the fast tunes on my fiddle but the slow ones are lovely as well! Thanks for the follow!
Hi Nuno, Just wanted to let you know that I have mentioned you in an upcoming blog, I beleive it will be for March 13th, yes, I’m trying to get ahead of the game. Thank you, Kellie. Your blog is absolutely creative and I always enjoy when I read your news posts.
Keep posting and sharing your experiences in your course!
You just commented on my blog art so I am visiting your blog. What I love about blogging is all the great people you meet. Brings the Internet to life. I used pen and ink forever before I began to use color in the nineties. I employed all types of tools to draw with water soluble ink. I shaded with a sumi brush by dragging some of the ink out of the line. I still paint that way but I use color now. Perhaps you have inspired me to take up my pen again.
Gretchen, that would be wonderful. I’d love to see how a great artist like you applies all those techniques. All this is new to me.
I’ll be following and enjoying each one of your new posts.
Thanks for visiting my blog and commenting.
Couldn’t understand why I haven’t been getting your posts even though it says I’m following.
So have un-followed and now re-followed. Hope it works.
Somebody was having trouble with the subscriptions. It seems the WordPress staff does not what was the problem.
I started to use WordPress for reading the blogs feed and I am also missing some posts. If the problems persist, I guess I will get back to Google Reader.
Thanks.
beautiful blog and beautiful paintings
you must have natural artistic talents, because when i try to practice, my watercoloring attempts don’t seem to get any better. but i will continue to play and experiment. =) thanks for documenting your work!
The practice is the key point. Keep practicing and experimenting.
Thank you, Evelyn.
